TikTok
TikTok has emerged as a highly popular platform for game marketing, thanks to its ability to provide even a small amount of visibility to content creators. What sets TikTok apart is its recommendation algorithm, which not only shares your content with your followers but also exposes it to users who follow or engage with similar content.
For first-time users, TikTok may initially seem unfamiliar, as they encounter random videos that may not align with their interests. However, the more users search for and interact with content they are genuinely interested in, the better the recommendation system becomes at tailoring their feed to their preferences.

Setting up:
- As default you will have a normal creator account, which most of the other game devs use as well. Business accounts are usually meant for larger businesses that also want to collaborate with other creators.
- You can instantly add a link to your Instagram and Youtube account.
- You can add other links to your bio after 1000 followers, however you can choose to switch to a business account and instantly add a link, but for example your music options will be limited since you can only use sounds from the provided royalty-free library. Navbar > Settings and privacy> Manage account > Switch to Business Account.
- You can turn on analytics after posting your first public video. Navbar > Creator tools > Analytics.
- Add a linktree link in the bio, which links to other places like Steam page, Discord, Twitter etc.
- Try to curate your own feed. Look for creators and content you are interested in through hashtags and follow them so the algorithm will know better what kind of audience you belong to. Some people have mentioned that it will also help the algorithm with finding people to suggest your posts to. It’s also useful for seeing post from other indie games and checking which trends and songs they are using that you could also use to do well with your posts.
