About me
I am Katre, a Computer Science Bachelor’s student and this guide was created during my Bachelor's thesis “Smart Solutions To Indie Game Marketing”.
I grew up in a small village where there wasn’t much to do and because of that video games were my main source of entertainment and way of finding new friends.
Indie games have always been dear to my heart but before taking on that project I had never really thought how much work has to be done to actually get visibility for your indie game. I noticed how many guides were out there especially for marketing video games through social media but most of them were outdated and all over the place.
I wanted to make it easier to find most of that information so I put together a guide that you see on this website. I used different other guides and sources which have also been added at the end of each social media page where they were used.
The guide is far from prefect and my future plan is to improve this guide even further: add more social media platforms, add and update the tips and add some genre specific advice for each social media platform.
During my thesis I also created a small video editing tool with Jupyter Notebook to make it easier to create short video clips for social media and I also added a feature to automatically upload your video to Twitter, YouTube and TikTok. The tool at this stage is more as a base and will be reworked to make something that will be easy to use and doesn't require much set up by the user.
